Piazza di Spagna Suite
Tradition and Modernity
In the heart of Rome, just a few steps from the iconic Piazza di Spagna, Piazza di Spagna Suite offers an exclusive hospitality experience inside a historic apartment divided into two independent residential units, designed to provide privacy, comfort, and a refined atmosphere. These two suites, Domus Florum II and Domus Florum III, are elegant, thoughtfully curated spaces ideal for guests who wish to enjoy the Eternal City with style and complete autonomy.
The building that hosts Piazza di Spagna Suite is truly unique: it dates back to the 4th century AD, when—according to historical archives—it served as a convent. Its ancient walls have witnessed centuries of Roman life, transformations, and stories in one of the city’s most fascinating districts.
The street name doesn't refer to a personal name; Mario de' Fiori was a nickname. His real name was Mario Nuzzi (1603-1673), a 17th-century Roman painter specializing in still lifes with flowers—practically the forefather of flower painters.
At the time, botany was a huge trend in Rome, and he was a friend of the great botanist Cassiano dal Pozzo, so much so that he illustrated botanical books. He painted flowers so well that the Barberini and Chigi families gifted his paintings to the kings of France and Spain. He became extremely wealthy and entered the Accademia di San Luca with Bernini.
His marriage certificate from 1650 actually states: "Marius, Pictor Romanus, vulgo Mario de' Fiori" - Mario, Roman painter, commonly known as "Mario dei Fiori".
The street was named after him because he lived there after his second marriage.
Despite its historical significance, the property underwent a complete renovation in 2023, an intervention that preserved the soul of the apartment while introducing contemporary materials, modern comforts, and refined design details.
